The Norelco 8140XL is the best that you are going to get from an electric shaver. I tried a Remington foil shaver and it was horrible. It did a poor job of shaving, was VERY loud and made a mess of my bathroom when I cleaned it.
I returned it and bought the 8160XL because it was the same price as the 8140XL on Amazon. The Jet Clean system is a waste of time and space. You clean the cutting blades by opening the top and holding it under running water - done! I don't see any reason to use the cleaning system.
If can't use a multi-blade razor and need to go electric then I recommend the Norelco 8140XL.
My rating system:
*****(5 stars) - Good old multi-blade razor and shave cream (my old skin can't take blades anymore)
****(4 stars) - Norelco 8140XL
***(3 stars) - Norelco 8160XL
* (1 star) - Remington foil type shaver

This is an excellent straightforward shaver. Does equally well on neck, chin and cheeks. Battery last a long time between shaves. Cutter head may be rinsed in plain tap water eliminating the need for a more expensive cumbersome cleaning system. Definitely recommended.

Great razor. Meeets the traditional standards of Norelco. Quick charge. fast and complete shave, easy to clean, comfortable, etc. There are no adverse issues with this razor.
I got it to replace one of the Arcitec models which, for me, was totally unsatisfactory. The contrast between the two is immediately apparent with the 8140XL.
With a five star rating, I would give it a seven.

My son's old Norelco fizzed out and he decided to try a Remington he purchaed on Amazon. BIG MISTAKE! The shaver gave a terrible shave and just didn't come up to the Norelco standards. I purchased a new Norelco 8140 XL Shaver for him for his birthday on Amazon and he is extremely happy with his new Norelco. He's getting a great smoothe shave, and he will be sticking with Norelco in the future.

I purchased the Norelco 8140XL shaver after reading several positive reviews. I cannot get a good, clean shave with this razor and it takes a long time going over and over my face to try to get a smooth shave. Even after doing this, I can still feel my face is rough and not clean shaven !! Am I doing something wrong ????
