Assessing your body fat is an accurate method of determining your level of fitness and health.
This caliper is small and convenient. However, there are pitfalls. As you squeeze your skin fold, there is some variability from one measurement to the next due to its light construction. It is not durable over time with repetetive use and I question its validity beyond a 1 year time interval. Mine broke a little over 15 months at the 'hinge' opposite to the slide rule.

When keeping track of losing weight, tracking your loss in body fat most certainly should be included. Easy to use and very accurate.

I am somewhat disappointed with my Accu-Measure 3000. Oh, it measures skinfold thickness well enough, but the accompanying chart only offers a limited range of body fat percentage readings.
Although the calipers are able to read skinfolds to the nearest millimeter, the chart offers only a very loose interpretation of the readings. The body fat percentages listed on the chart would seem accurate enough: 9.9%, 12.4%, 14.7%, etc., but there is no 10% or 12% or 15%. The chart gives the impression ... Read More

I found the calipers extremely reliable after only a few "test runs." Knowing my body fat percentage helps me to keep track of where i'm at in loosing fat and not just loosing weight.
