Editorial Review:
Product Description: "Hit-and-run" relationships have become common in our society as it has grown more rootless, less tied to traditional family structures, and more accepting of casual sex. But at the same time, there arises an undercurrent of feeling that something is missing-a quality of intimacy.
This quality has very little to do with the physical, though sex is certainly one possible door. Far more important is a willingness to expose our deepest feelings and vulnerabilities, with the trust that the other person will treat them with care. Ultimately, the willingness to take the risk of intimacy has to be grounded in an inner strength that knows that even if the other remains closed, even if that trust is betrayed, we will not suffer any permanent damage.
In this gentle and compassionate guide, Osho takes his readers step-by-step through what makes people afraid of intimacy, how to encounter those fears and go beyond them, and what they can do to nourish themselves and their relationships to support more openness and trust.
OSHO challenges readers to examine and break free of the conditioned belief systems and prejudices that limit their capacity to life in all its richness. He has been described by the Sunday Times of London as one of the "1000 Makers of the 20th Century" and by Sunday Mid-Day (India) as one of the ten people-along with Gandhi, Nehru, and Buddha-who have changed the destiny of India. More than a decade after his death in 1990, the influence of his teachings continues to expand, reaching seekers of all ages in virtually every country of the world.

Another enriching collection of Osho's thoughts. How can one love another without first loving themself? How can one trust another without trusting themself? So often we look outside ourselves when the answers have been within us all along.

I was directed to this book by a friend at work who said the book helped her with intimate relationships. I am a Christian, so I was a little leary of "venturing out" of the ordinary authors to find advice on intimacy. I found a lot of what Osho said about intimacy very sensible, realistic, and applicable to most all people who have problems with becoming intimate with others. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their chances with others in an intimate relationship.

Osho is the greatest, and this is one of my favorite books of his teachings. He is so wise, and helps in so many different ways for me to see the ego I am living in which makes me anxious, gives me shallow thinking and breathing, and prevents me from seeing the world as it really is, ie. in the present moment, instead of colored by the past, or by thoughts of the future.
This book focuses on how living in our usual mind sets keeps us, through fear and ignorance, from intimacy with ourselves, ... Read More

i was not impressed with the style and contents at all. very gender biased and way too authoritarian for my liking.

It's never too late to learn to love and be loved! This book was enlightening - it helped me to understand myself within an intimate relationship and also how I relate to all people. Some of what you will learn: you must first love and accept who you really are to love another..live in the moment not the past or future...to trust another (the ultimate respect one can give) you must first trust yourself...love does not possess...be insecure in love NOT secure (security will never satisfy you!)...live ...
