This cuts great - the guides are only for very short cuts. It seems well built for home use. The guides have stayed on just fine for me.

This product feels and sounds just like the electric clippers barbers use. I have male pattern baldness and don't like paying for haircuts. Using the longest spacer allows me to get a close hair cut with relative ease. I shave my neck without using a spacer and am happy with the results; it cuts very close without a spacer but doesn't hurt or pinch. Wahl makes the best pair of clippers and this model doesn't disappoint. One of the closest shaves I have ever gotten without a razor. Great for fading as well.

I think the product provides a very close cut, but the guards included are 1/2, 1, and 1&1/2 need to make sure you buy guards in addition if you want to use as primary clippers.

I ordered through a link for Wahl's. The clipper on Wahl's has an adjustable lever. The clipper that I received did not have a lever.
