Product Description:
This vivid and detailed biography strips away centuries of distortion and myth and presents a balanced view of the man whose religion continues to dramatically affect the course of history.

An enjoyable read but Armstrong contradicts and fails to draw distinctions. For instance, she uses Secular West and Christianity interchangeably, as if they are the same entity(I personally enjoyed her scathing remarks about the latter). She also goes way out of her way to be an apologist, instead maintaining the necessary objective distance. But all in all, I feel better informed.

It is a beautifully written book. Not only is it well researched but it also gives a balanced view of the life of the most intriguing man that has ever lived. Karen Armstrong is a very well respected author and maintains a standard of integrity and objectivity in her works that is hard to find in some other authors who have attempted to write books on Mohammad.

It's been awhile since I read this book, but I must say that it is clear and concise, and informative. I think everyone should read this book, maybe George Bush should be sent a copy (does he read?)

It is simply amazing what Mohammed managed to do to create stability where there was the possibility for factions by the score to develop. Bad enough ... Read More

I have read several reviews about Karen Armstrong book many have liked it and others have called her naive . I guess it is how we view her writting skill. First point is that she is not a muslim to have any kind of biasing.I have found her impartial.she has presented query from western perspective as well as islamic perspective. She has presented her work in such a way that it brings out prejudism and threaten their own preassumtions regarding Mohammed and Islam. I have found her work very analytic not ... Read More
